Where is the House?

The house is Number 19 in a managed resort of 20 houses, trading as Fraser Island Beach Houses.  This is located at Eurong Second Valley and is accessed directly from the beach, 200m south of the longer-established Eurong Beach Resort.

Click here for a larger map of the Eurong area.
See also the Google Maps satellite image of the Eurong area. Note the aircraft on the beach.

Eurong is on the eastern (surf) side of Fraser Island, about 32km north of Hook Point (the southern extremity of the island).

The Environmental Protection Agency website now has a more detailed map of Fraser Island in PDF format.

Here is a Google Maps satellite image of Fraser Island.

Fraser Island is off the east coast of Queensland, about 4 hours drive north of Brisbane, the state's capital city.

Queensland occupies the north-east part of Australia.

How do we get there?

  • From the South via Noosa, Double Island Point and Rainbow Beach - Plan A
This is the best option, when the tides are right.  Take in the view along Teewah Beach and visit the Cooloola Coloured Sands on your way to Fraser Island
.  The 10 minute barge trip from Inskip Point on the mainland to Hook Point at the southern tip of Fraser Island is also the cheapest.
  • From the South via the Freshwater Road - Plan B
If conditions are not right or safe at the Rainbow Beach 8 Mile rocks, Plan B involves a scenic detour via the Freshwater Road.
  • From the South via Gympie - Plan C
Third best option: When you have to travel at a time other than low tide, use the highway.  This route is longer in distance but about the same in travel time.
  • From the North -
via vehicular ferry from River Heads, 20km south of Hervey Bay.  Land at Wanggoolba Creek on the western side of Fraser Island.  There is no need to consider tides on this route.  However, barge bookings are essential and departure times are limited.
  • By Bus - from either Hervey Bay or Noosa.
    • Many day tour operators will transfer extra passengers to accommodation on Fraser Island.  Departure times and availability may vary with the season.
    • For the most suitable current options, check with the managers at Fraser Island Beach Houses
       phone: (07) 4127 9205
       or email: [email protected].

  • By Taxi - from either the Wanggoolba Creek or Hook Point barges.
    • A 4WD taxi service is available to transfer passengers from either the Wanggoolba Creek or Hook Point barges.
    • Arrange this with the managers at Fraser Island Beach Houses on (07) 4127 9205.
    • Alternatively, contact Fraser Island Taxi Service directly on (07) 4127 9188.

  • By Air -
Air Fraser Island conduct scenic flights over Fraser Island from the beach at Eurong ($60pp)
.  They offer special deals ($70pp one way) on their early morning flights from Urangan to Eurong and also on their late afternoon return flights.
