SharePoint Portal Server Customisation Runge Mining's International Intranet

Runge Mining is an international firm of Mining consultants with offices in the USA, Canada, South America, Malaysia, South Africa and across Australia.  A significant part of their business is the development of mine planning software.

Mike was recently engaged by Runge Mining to develop an intranet based on SharePoint Portal Server for their world-wide operations.  The aim was to improve corporate communication, document management and collaboration between project teams scattered across the globe.

A number of Data View Web Parts were constructed.  These display subsets of data from Team Sites...

Customized CSS

Customized CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are used to suppress menus and unnecessary navigation elements at print time.  This leaves maximum space for content on the printed page.  The screen shot below is a print preview of the portal page above.

Calendar Views

Runge's Intranet takes advantage of SharePoint Portal Server's Calendar views for training schedules...

Team Sites

Different, but complementary, colours, styles and graphical elements are used on Team Sites to distinguish these pages from Portal pages...
